The Legacy

Bootleg Candle Company was founded in the foothills of
Appalachia — in the same corner of North Alabama where the mountains flatten
into red clay fields and the old ways still hold. This is a place shaped by
generations of people who made what they needed with their own hands, who took
pride in the craft of a thing, and who didn't ask permission to do it.

The prohibition era left a lasting mark on this land. When
liquor was outlawed in 1920, Appalachian moonshiners didn't stop — they
adapted. Working by firelight in hidden hollows, distilling in copper stills
deep in the woods, delivering their jars under cover of darkness. They were
outlaws by law and craftsmen by nature. The spirit of that era — the
dedication, the self-reliance, the refusal to compromise on quality — is what
Bootleg Candle Company was built to honor.

Every scent in the Bootleg collection tells a chapter of
that story. Every jar is a vessel for a world that deserves to be remembered.

The Craft

Every candle, wax melt, reed diffuser, and room spray sold
under the Bootleg name is made by hand, in small batches, with the same care
and attention that defined the old crafts this brand was built around.

Bootleg uses 100% natural soy wax — clean burning, long
lasting, and American grown. Every candle is fitted with a crackling wood wick
that brings the sound of a fire into any room. Fragrances are carefully blended
to tell a story, not just fill a space. Each batch is poured by hand and
inspected before it leaves the workshop.

This is not a factory operation. It never will be. The small
batch approach isn't a marketing position — it's a commitment to quality that
can only be kept one jar at a time.

Where it comes from

Bootleg Candle Company grew out of a genuine passion for
three things: the history and culture of American whiskey making, the heritage
of Appalachian craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for products still made
the traditional way — by hand, with skill, and with something to say.

The bourbon collector's obsession with provenance. The
historian's respect for what prohibition-era culture produced under pressure.
The craftsman's insistence on doing the thing right or not doing it at all.
These aren't brand values invented for a label — they're the reason the brand
exists.

Five years of pours, of refining scents, of building a
collection one chapter at a time. Bootleg Candle Company is still small by
design. Still handmade by necessity. Still Appalachian at its core.

"We don't make candles. We build worlds — and deliver them through scent."

— Bootleg Candle Company

The Collection

The Bootleg collection spans fourteen core expressions and a
five-scent Infusion Series — each one rooted in a specific moment, place, or
tradition from prohibition-era America. From the inside of a Kentucky rickhouse
to the salt air of the North Carolina coast. From the back room of a 1920s New
York barbershop to a mountain hollow in full spring bloom.

Each scent is a chapter. Each collection is a storyline. And
the story is still being written — one small batch at a time, from the
foothills of Appalachia.
